Wotadoll won at Chelmsford last month and yesterday she recorded back to back wins after victory at Lingfield under Robert Winston.
Despite being drawn wide, 11 of 12,she was always up near the pace in this six furlong contest. The 4/1 second favourite stayed on well inside the final furlong to get up near the shadow of the post to beat the 3/1 favourite, Very Honest by half a length.
The four-year-old daughter of Harbour Watch out of a Dansili mare has had twelve races this season and following many placed efforts including five seconds and two thirds, she has been rewarded with back to back wins on the all-weather. However, she also has form on the grass having won twice last year at Yarmouth and Brighton. Having won off 54, 56 and 57, she was recording her best ever win off 61 at the Surrey track. She shouldn’t go up too much for that win and as she seems to thrive on her racing, could be seen out again before too long.
Congratulations to her owner Mr David C Mead who was doubly pleased as he bred her as well.
Wotadoll’s win was the 38th for the season, equalling last year’s total and just one behind the record of 39 achieved in 2013. It could so easily have been 39 yesterday as Angel Of The South was collared on the line and beaten a neck in a five furlong handicap. The yard enjoyed a good day yesterday as the four runners produced a third as well, courtesy of Soaring Spirits.
The yard is finishing 2018 with a flourish and according to the Racing Post, it has a 71% horses running to form percentage. The calendar season finishes on 30 December at Lingfield and with plenty more fixtures before then, there could be more Harper Lodge Farm winners to come.
