HARPER LODGE FARM has two nice two-year-olds, courtesy of Solario Racing and one of them, a filly by Twilight Son went upsides (pictured nearside) in eye-catching fashion this morning.
She has only been going up to the gallops during the last fortnight and went upsides for the first time earlier this week but she’s a quick learner and does things very easily.
This morning, ridden by 5lb claimer, Sophie Ralston, she did a piece with 5yo Laurentia, who won four times last year. The two came upsides for most of the way but the as yet unnamed filly by Twilight Son moved past her towards the end of the gallop without Sophie being at all hard on her.
Sophie has struck up a good relationship with the filly and says she’s “very professional.” The filly seems to have plenty of speed and looks a sharp sort who should be out on the course this spring.
Bred by Max Weston, Stud Manager at nearby Childwickbury Stud, the filly is a half-sister to four winners from six runners, including nine-times sprint winner, Show Stealer, who finished her 40-race career on an all-time high mark of 98. The youngest sibling to race is Sir Maxi, who won twice last year over 6 and 7 furlongs and was runner-up twice from four starts and is rated 85.
The sire, Twilight Son is a dual Group One winning sprinting sire of Kyllachy, so there’s plenty of speed in the pedigree and this filly looks as though she’s destined for sprinting.
Purchased for 16,000 guineas at Tattersalls October Yearling Sales by Solario Racing, she is being syndicated in quarter shares.
