Harper Lodge Team

  • Chris Scally

Assistant Trainer Chris rode over 20 winners and has been at Harper Lodge over 30 years.  His vast experience of horses ensures the smooth running of the yard at all times. He’s a keen football and cricket fan and supports Arsenal. His favourite racecourse is Newmarket’s July course and his favourite racehorse is the 1986 Arc winner, Dancing Brave.

  • Graham Mash

Travelling Head Lad for the last 32 years, Graham started at the yard in 1981 as an apprentice for Ken. He rode three winners including one of the stable’s favourites, Dawn’s Delight and his claim to fame was beating Willie Carson a head, so depriving him of 100 winners for the season.  Hobbies include quizzes and darts, his favourite course is York and dual July Cup runner-up Tropics is his favourite horse.

  • Jean Wallace

Jean too has been at the yard over 30 years having joined in 1984.  Formerly Head Girl, Jean now oversees all veterinary and staff welfare matters. Cheltenham is her favourite racecourse and she enjoys spending time with family, riding and eating out.

  • Natalie Byrne

Natalie first joined Dean in 2010 and after a break has recently returned.  Her favourite course is York and favourite horse is Tropics.  Interests outside racing include ice skating, film, theatre and clubbing.

  • Emily Crossman

Emily joined the team in 2006 and has been placed several times for the yard. An experienced horsewoman, she’s often put on the more difficult horses in the mornings. She enjoys socialising with friends and lists York as her favourite course and the yard’s top-rated Librisa Breeze as her favourite horse.

  • Steve Garland

Steve is one of two Irish lads in the yard which may explain while See The Stars is his favourite horse and The Curragh his favourite racecourse! He has a mischievous sense of humour but enjoys his racing. His interests include fishing and nights out.

  • Adrian Hirons

A member of the team since 2008, Adrian is not only one of the best turned out lads at the racecourse but he’s always quietly talking to the horses as he leads up, keeping them calm and relaxed. Football and Plymouth Argyle are two of his passions, Haydock is his favourite course and Carnival Day his favourite horse.

  • James Kenny

One of the youngest and newest members of the team, having joined in May 2017, James’ favourite horse is multiple winner, Soaring Spirits and his favourite course is Kempton while he enjoys Xbox in his spare time.

  • Vicky Sharpe

Vicky joined the team straight from college in 2000. She’s been around horses for as long as she can remember and she is a key member of the team, combining stable and office duties. Vicky looks forward to her holidays, named Lancelot Du Lac as her favourite horse and is another who identified York as her favourite track.
