SOLARIO RACING purchased a very exciting unraced 2yo grey colt by Aussie Rules at the Horses In Training Sale at Tattersalls this week and he is settling in well at Harper Lodge Farm.
The large grey, named Don’t Look Down, which stands at 16:2hh was formerly owned by Mr J L C Pearce, a long-time owner and supporter of Sir Mark Prescott. Sadly, he died earlier this year and all his six horses at Heath House Stables went to the sales.
By Aussie Rules who won the French 2000 Guineas in 2006, the colt is out of a Rainbow Quest mare, Miss Katmandu who has produced three winners from six runners, including the full-brother, Tenzing Norgay, who won three times as a three-year-old. The full-brother was also trained by Sir Mark Prescott, who spoke very highly of the colt when Solario Racing went to view him at the stables before the sale.
Solario Racing has had horses at Harper Lodge Farm since 2013 and currently has the 2yo Spring Romance in training. Today, Simon Double, who runs the syndicate company, came up to the stables to see the handsome grey go through his paces.
Firstly, the horse was ridden in the lungeing pen and then he was ridden in the outdoor trotting ring. The colt gave rider, Dimitris Mylonas, a good feel. Having ridden good horses and winners in both the UK and Dubai, Dimitris is a fine judge of a horse.
After exercise, it was time for a photo-shoot with Don’t Look Down and just as at exercise, the colt behaved very professionally. Solario Racing will be syndicating the grey in 1/12th shares and is currently putting together a brochure.
