DANCINGINTHEWOODS, aka “Woody” won at Newmarket’s July Course yesterday for Solario Racing, his second win of the year and his third career success.
Given a fine ride by Joe Fanning who was sitting on him for the first time, the 4yo son of Garswood was one of just six runners in the 0-95 handicap over 6f but despite the small field, there were several keen to make it, so there was plenty of pace on which is exactly what he needs.
Joe Fanning tracked the eventual runner-up, Mr Wagyu, on the nearside rail and was always travelling well throughout the contest. One and a half furlongs from home, nothing was going better than “Woody” who hit the front inside the final furlong and kept on well to win by a neck and half a length. Stablemate, Yimou, also ran a nice race to be fourth, beaten two lengths under Rab Havlin.
Solario Racing’s flaghip horse has now won three times, all over 6f and twice at Newmarket, once on his debut at 50/1 on the Rowley Mile and now at the July Course. His starting price of 5/1 may have been a tenth of his debut win but his Owners had backed him at bigger odds and there were plenty of smiles amid the celebrations afterwards!
While he gets seven furlongs, having nearly won last summer over the trip at Newmarket when beaten a head, he really appreciates six furlongs with a good gallop which is exactly what he had yesterday and this very honest horse took full advantage.
In 15 career starts, Dancinginthewoods has won three times and only been out of the prize money on four occasions. He loves Newmarket, both courses, having won twice, been second and had two fourths in six starts.
Congratulations to Solario Racing (Ashridge) who also have a very nice 2yo by Tamayuz available in 1/12th shares. He is due to make his racecourse debut this summer and there are limited shares available. Please contact Racing Manager, Simon Double on 01442 877 597 for details.
