Lucymai Retired To The Paddocks

LUCYMAI, the seven times winning 7yo mare owned by Roger S Beadle, has been retired to the paddocks.

She had her final race last week at Kempton and although she didn’t go out on a high and finished last of ten runners, it was the track where she made her debut and won at 50/1 over 6f back in 2015 on 10th June under Martin Harley.

She won once more at Kempton in January 2018 under Jack Duern but that was over 7f and indeed that was her specialist trip, over which she won six of her seven races.  While she won twice at the Sunbury track, she really came to life at Chelmsford where she ran 14 times, won six, came runner-up  on three occasions and was third twice.

While she hit the ground running with her debut win, she had to wait  nearly two years for her second success, which was in May 2017 under Robert Winston.  Her remaining five victories were all achieved with 3lb stable apprentice, Jack Duern in the saddle and they won three on the bounce at the end of 2017, early 2018.

In total, the daughter of Multiplex out of a Needwood Blade mare, Miss Lesley, ran 36 times and she recorded seven wins, five seconds, five thirds and three fourths.  She amassed over £100,000 in prize money and having won off a mark of 100 in August 2018, she was raised to 105 which was her highest ever official rating.

Lucymai’s owner, Roger Beadle has been one of Harper Lodge Farm’s biggest supporters for many years.  This is his best horse to date and this strapping, well built mare has the physique to do well at stud.  Now all Roger has to do is choose her first mate!

Everyone at Harper Lodge Farm wishes Roger as much luck with “Lucy” at the paddocks as in her racing career.
