Lordsbridge Win Brings Up Joint-Record 39 Wins

LORDSBRIDGE BOY’S second win of the season, when successful by a neck yesterday at Kempton brought up win number 39 for the yard for 2019, equalling the record set in 2013 and last year.

The 3yo son of Equiano was one of eleven runners that lined up for the 6f handicap and he went off the 5/2 favourite.  Stable claimer, Sophie Ralston was on board and she was keen from the off to get Lordsbridge Boy to the head of affairs.

Drawn seven, Sophie switched her mount straight away to the right to get a position near the rail at the head of affairs.  The 5/2 jolly was a little keen in front but he stayed in front, was shaken up a furlong from home and repelled the challengers, which included the running-on True Belief.

Congratulations to owner, Roger Beadle, for whom this was his third win of the year following Tangramm’s win at Nottingham in June and Lordsbridge Boy’s first win at Newmarket in August.  Roger has had horses at the yard for some time including the “Queen of Chelmsford”, Lucymai.  The 6yo Multiplex mare won five times over 7f at Chelmsford, seven races in all and earned over £100,000 in prize money.

Sophie Ralston’s win was her sixth for the yard in 2019 and her ninth in total, equalling last year’s total.  The five pound claimer has now ridden 21 career wins to date.

Yesterday’s success was the first win this month but the 39th in total this year which equalled the yard’s best ever season set first in 2013 and then equalled last year.

The stable often does well at the back-end of the year on the all-weather.  Indeed last year, November saw the stable win seven times in November and then a further twice in December, so unless the wheels come off, a record 40 wins should be within sight!
