Breeze Entered For Deauville

LIBRISA BREEZE, the top-rated horse in the yard has been entered for the Group One, Maurice de Gheest over 6.5 furlongs at Deauville on Sunday 5th August.

The 6yo son of Mount Nelson is one of 48 entries for the prestigious turf race and he is the joint-third rated horse at the initial entry stage on 117.  City Light, second in the Commonwealth at Royal Ascot last month and trained by French trainer, S Wattel, heads the ratings on 118 alongside Gustsav Klimt, trained by Aidan O’Brien.

There are plenty of old foes at the initial entry stage including The Tin Man, Washington DC and Brando, who all finished behind him at Ascot on Champions Day last October.

Librisa took a while to show his best form last year and it’s more of the same this season.  He ideally would prefer some cut in the ground and connections are hoping the ground at Deauville by August 5th will suit the Tony Bloom-owned grey.

Winner of near £675,000, he has won a third of his 18 starts to date, ranging from 6f to 1m2f and they include two big seven furlong handicaps at Ascot in 2016, the International and the totescoop6 Challenge Cup.  In the same year, he was second in the Royal Hunt Cup over a mile at the Royal Meeting.

However, these days sprinting seems to have brought about the best in him and the six and a half furlongs trip at Deauville should be tailor made for him.  The ground is pretty firm everywhere in the country at present but the French normally water well and hopefully the ground will suit come August 5th.

Librisa Breeze is a class act who needs good ground or softer to show his best.  Hopefully, the horse will enjoy a smooth preparation in the lead up to Deauville and ground conditions will play to his strengths on the day.
