Adace And Toyboy At The 53/1 Double!

ADACE and DORS TOYBOY scored in both divisions of the Betsi handicap over 7f at Chelmsford yesterday to record a 53/1 double for the stable.

The former, a 3yo daughter of Adaay was having just her third run for Harper Lodge Farm, having come from Mick Channon’s yard and after showing potential from a wide draw at the Essex track last time out, she made no mistake this time out under Jimmy Quinn, despite being drawn wide again.

Adace came from behind and after hitting the front half a furlong from home, she stayed on strongly to win going away by 2 1/4 lengths. She returned a rather generous 8/1 starting price which will have delighted her owner/breeder John Marsden.  Congratulations to John who has had horses at the yard before, notably, Tangramm, who was the winningmost horse on the all-weather during the 2015/16 season.

Dors Toyboy (pictured) broke his duck in the second division and despite also being drawn wide in 10, he pressed for the lead after two furlongs and was going better than anything else two from home.  Like Adace, he too stayed on strongly and won comfortably by five lengths, again in the hands of Jimmy Quinn.

The grey son of Dark Angel was breaking his duck at the 17th attempt but he had previous placed form at Chelmsford, having been second twice, third and fourth in six previous visits.  The 5/1 shot was not winning out of turn for his owner Doreen Carter, who will have been thrilled with this easy success, so  well done Doreen!

The turf season may be over but the all-weather provides opportunities for winners and often the yard does will in the latter months of the year.  Adace and Dors Toyboy look capable of further success, so hopefully the stable can end the last few weeks of the year on a high!
